About Me

Creating A Gorgeous Home After I built my dream home, I realized that there were a few changes we needed to make to the interior. For starters, I knew that I needed to do something to make the interior decor special, so I started focusing more and more on making the space special. I started working with a professional painter and wallpaper hanger, and he really did wonders in making my home look and feel different and unique. I wanted to create a blog all about creating a gorgeous home, so I made this website. I hope you find articles that will inspire you to make your space better.

Painting Or Lime Washing Brick: What You Should Do

If you have a brick that you are less than thrilled with, but removing it is just too expensive, there are things you can do about it. You can cover it with paint, or you can limewash it instead. Either way, you can color it the way you want it to be and give it a fresh new look. If you aren't sure if you should paint it or limewash it, read on for some information about both to help you decide which is best for your project.

Paint

When painting brick, you will give your brick an all-over color without any brick showing through at all. You need to use paint that is made for masonry and check to see if it is for indoor or outdoor brick. If you are painting exterior brick, you need to know that paint will coat the brick without any air getting to the brick at all. If there is moisture in your bricks or behind them, you could end up with a mold or mildew problem. You should also be aware that your paint can fade in the sun, or if painting it white or a light color, it can yellow from weather. Paint may also chip off and you may need to repaint your brick again over time.

Lime Wash

If you are looking for a different look, not just an all-over color, you can lime wash your brick. Follow the instructions on the limewash and water it down as instructed according to the look you are going for. You can wipe off the limewash or pressure wash it off if you don't like the look of it. With limewash, you need to be sure you apply it with either a brush or a paint sprayer and cover other areas nearby that you don't want to get the limewash onto. Lime washing can also fade over time or chip off. It is made to absorb into the brick, so you won't have to worry about a mold problem as you would with paint.

If you are trying to give your brick a different look, you can paint or limewash it. This can be a lot of work if you have a lot of brick to cover. Hire a professional painter to do this work for you and talk to your painter about which product is best for your project. Reach out to a company like Anchor Painting in your area.
